Broadview & Buccaneer

Juglans regia Broadview & Buccaneer

Walnut (unprocessed)
A walnut with a good bitter taste. The bowl is closed and can be easily opened by hand. The nuts are ripe when they fall from the tree and can then be collected

Pollination
The walnut is self-pollinating. The male bloom falls within the female bloom. The overlap in flowering time of both flower types is sufficient for self-pollination. The walnut tree becomes more and more fertile at a later age and gives fairly large nuts that are short and wide and have a good taste.

Pruning
The tree is very sensitive to pruning. It is therefore important to carry out the pruning in the right way and at the right time. Due to the prevention of bleeding from sap streams, the best time to prune a walnut tree is in the months of July to September. The leaves should still be hanging on the tree. You can also prune immediately after the nuts have fallen.
