Pluot

Prunus salicina x Prunus armeniaca Pluot Dapple Dandy

Apricot-plum
The Dapple Dandy is a 'pluot'. This is a cross between a Japanese plum and an apricot. Produces large, round and tasty sweet fruits with firm pink/red flesh. The skin is red with green/yellow dots, giving the fruit a variegated appearance. The riper the fruit is, the redder the skin becomes. This allows the striking color pattern to change to dark red.

Pollination
Cross-pollination with apricot, plum or ornamental plum.

Pruning
Prune after harvest. Try to create light and space. In the beginning, horizontal bending of fruit-bearing branches is desirable. Remove thin upright branches (so-called shoots).

Fertilization
Pluots like calcareous, nutritious soil that is not too wet. Provide a moderate amount of organic fertilizer.
