Hayward

Actinidia chinensis Hayward

Female kiwi
The Hayward produces a tasty and large kiwi. The flesh is deep green in color, aroma and wonderfully sweet.

Pollination
This female plant needs a male plant to produce kiwis.

Pruning
Best in January, not later, because then there is a risk of exudate (so-called bleeding). In the period April – July, gradually prune back long 1-year-old shoots to about 15 cm past the last fruit.

Fertilization
A slightly acidic, airy soil is ideal. Needs a fair amount of well-rotted compost regularly during the growing season. 7 to 8 kg of compost per square meter every year is not an exaggeration.
