Storage
How long you can store apples depends on the variety and ripeness of the apple.
The shelf life can vary from two days to four weeks. Summer varieties ripen quickly. The best storage place is cool, dark and not too dry, preferably not in the refrigerator. Apples lying on a fruit bowl in the living room quickly become overripe due to the high temperature and low humidity. In addition, apples produce a lot of ethylene gas, which means that the other fruit in the fruit bowl ripens faster. You can easily grow an apple yourself from your own garden. Due to the various types and sizes you can always find a tree that suits you.
Cleaning
Eat an apple washed, peeled, whole or in wedges. It is nice for a child if the core is removed with an apple corer. Apples quickly turn brown after peeling. This can be prevented by adding a little lemon or lime juice (for example in fruit salads).
Consumption
You don't just eat an apple out of your hand. There are endless recipes in which the apple plays the leading role. Well-known recipes are apple pie, apple sauce and apple turnovers. The sweet and sour taste of the apple also lends itself to a good addition to the cheese board. Delicious with, for example, a piece of brie. In addition, the apple is also a good basis for a tasty homemade smoothie. Due to the various varieties, there is always a variety that you like!
